Raven-Symonè comes out on Twitter, says 'I can finally get married!'
Raven-Symonè put questions to rest regarding her sexuality with a Twitter post Friday.
The 27-year-old actress tweeted to her thousands of followers, "I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you."
CNN reports that Raven-Symonè released a statement through her representatives saying, "I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to." Her representatives said she was excited to hear via NPR that more states were legalizing same-sex marriages, like Rhode Island and Minnesota.
According to USA Today, questions about the star's sexuality arose in May 2012 when a tabloid reported she was living with an openly gay contestant from "America's Next Top Model." Raven-Symonè responded at the time with a tweet saying,"My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm dating to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life."
But the actress best known for her roles on "The Cosby Show" and "That's So Raven" has become more vocal this year.
The star's social media proclamation was met with support and backlash.
She followed with a tweet on Friday thanking those who showed her support, saying "Thanks for all the love! What a day . . . Gotta go back to homework. Ttyl!"
