Taylor Lautner out as Stretch Armstrong
The long-gestating movie about the puttyish Hasbro superhero Stretch Armstrong was officially announced Monday in a release that made no mention of "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner.
Lautner was tapped to star in a "Stretch Armstrong" project way back in 2010, but that never got off the ground, according to Variety, which also reported that no casting choices have been made for the new film.
Lautner's extracurricular "Twilight" career got off to a rocky start with last year's "Abduction," a teen-oriented action-flick that fared poorly with reviewers and pulled in a lackluster $28 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo. His "Twilight" castmate Robert Pattison hasn't done much better, starring in flops like the indie film "Remember Me" and the Reese Witherspoon romance "Water for Elephants."
The production company behind the film is Relativity Media, whose recent projects (often in tandem with other studios) include "Immortals," "Bridesmaids," "Cowboys & Aliens" and "The Social Network."
