I'm addicted to Olympic curling on CNBC, or MSNBC or whatever channel NBC decided to air it that particular day. I hate all kinds of hockey, but I loved watching the U.S. men beat Canada.

I was even moved by the artistic performance of Kim Yu-Na as the South Korean won the gold medal in ladies' figure skating.

And I will continue to love the Winter Olympics, and NBC's decision to package the best stories in primetime, simply because they were smart enough to know that they need to stop their Olympic programming at 11 p.m. this Saturday to make way for "Saturday Night Live."

Reports are swirling right now that New York Gov. David A. Paterson is going to drop his election bid. Hello, cold open and Fred Armisen! His insanely ridiculous impression/mockery of Paterson is sure to be a major segment on this week's show, hosted by Jennifer Lopez.

Last week, we lost out on a Tiger Woods speech spoof. I don't think the American public would stand for two weeks of major news mockery fodder being replaced by ski jumping. As cool as all those events are to watch, we need to laugh at other people's misfortune being played out in comedic tones. We're Americans, it's what we do.

Here's an old Paterson/Armisen skit from "Weekend Update."
