Salahis: A firm "go" for 'Housewives of D.C.'
The Salahis - the world's most exemplary gatecrashers - will indeed appear on "The Real Housewives of DC."Surprise! Of course you knew Michaele and Tareq Salahi would turn their fifteen minutes into fifteen episodes. Show launches in July, and - a quick prediction - will nail the highest number of any of the "HW" editions, "NJ" included.
PHOTOS: Tareq and Michaele SalahiThe Daily Beast, via a good piece by Diane Dimond, has all the details, and they are largely what you would expect. - They've already filmed all the episodes. - They're prepping for a round of NBC interviews, including Matt/"Today" on May 27, and of course "Access Hollywood." - They instantly got the green light when Bravo learned they wouldn't be prosecuted. - ...Because...ol'gatecrasher extraordinarie Michaele was in so many shots of the show that the program would have had to marbleize half the series. That would have been fun. Amusingly, Bravo was going to keep this whole thing quiet until late spring, then launch the "surprise" onto a joyous and unsuspecting public - no doubt a public still in mourning over the imminent demise of "The Hills." Instead, per Dimond, Bravo only mentioned at its upfront meet that it would launch "RH: Beverly Hills" this year, while making no mention of "DC," except to note that "advertising opportunities" would in fact be available in a version to be set in the nation's sullied capital. Again, this is and was completely expected. Why would Bravo have filmed these two without expecting to use them? And really, on what grounds could they have possibly been prosecuted? The Terrorist act, maybe. They weren't techically "trespassing;" they hadn't "broken and entered;" no damage was done, other than to the reputation of the Secret Service, and the suckers caught in greet-and-grin shots with them. This, of course, isn't to absolve either the Salahis or Bravo. Meanwhile, check out this high dudgeon scolding when they were dragged before some silly solons; more footage for the show! Plus, that dumb publicity interview they've already done with Matt.
