The Television Critics Association -- of which I am a proud  member -- has picked its nominees for the 2012 TCA Awards, and some of the worthies include "Game of Thrones," "Homeland" and ... a newcomer by the name of Lena Dunham.

It's an almost uniformly excellent group of nominees. TCAs as usual put the Emmys, and certainly the Golden Globes, to shame because, seriously, virtually every show and every individual is outstanding. (I have some disputes with the movies/miniseries selections, but now is hardly the time to get into that.) There is, however, not a single nomination for a minor TV classic, "Sons of Anarchy."  (Beats me why ... except, maybe I'm to blame. I simply forgot to make an entry where required. Can I have a do-over?)

Most intriguing in this list is the career achievement group. I'm willing to bet Dick Clark wins this posthumously, but we'll see.
