Amber Holcomb and Angie Miller outshone Kree Harrison and Candice Glover as the fantastic "American Idol" final four sang a song of their own choice and then a one-hit wonder.

With all the vocal talent on stage it had the chance to be one of the show's best nights ever. It was not, due to some poor song choices; but it was still pretty good.

Below is how I ranked the performances; put your own thoughts in the comments, below.

PHOTOS: Finals Semifinals | Auditions | 'Idol' judges past and present | Winners and finalists | Where are they now?

1) Amber Holcomb's version of "I'm Your Lady" got a roar from the crowd and a standing ovation from the judges and for me was easily the best performance of the night. It was fantastic -- powerful, entralling and as Nicki Minaj said, "that song was made for you."

2) Angie Miller's "Who You Are" showed off her natural sense of timing and drama, giving the song a sense of urgency. Minaj just said, "there's no one that compares to you in this competition when you're behind the piano."

3) I wanted to love Angie Miller's "Cry Me A River," but even though she was dramatic and her voice soared effortlessly, it felt Impressive but not amazing for me. The judges all loved it, with Keith Urban calling it "mystical and celestially powerful."

4) Amber Holcomb's "MacArthur Park" got another standing ovation from the judges. For me, the song itself isn't that great, even if her performance was strong and enjoyable. I did agree with Mariah Carey when she said Holcomb had an "inner glow."

5) Kree Harrison 's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was enjoyable but not amazing. As Keith Urban said, she didn't play to her strength of either intimate songs or rocker songs, just did "the middle ground thing."

6) Candice Glover's "Find Your Love" was professional and well-done, but didn't make an emotional connection for me. As Minaj warned, she needs to make sure she doesn't get pigeon-holed as an "old-fashioned artist."

7) Kree Harrison's  "It Hurts So Bad" didn't make an emotional connection either, and led Minaj to tell her flat out, "that is not a top four worthy performance."

8) Candice Glover's "Emotion" was an okay performance of a song that's just not that memorable. She's apparently had a "bad cold" this week, so maybe that explains it.
