Candice Glover won "American Idol" Season 12 over Kree Harrison as Psy, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Adam Lambert and Aretha Franklin performed.
Candice Glover gets ovation, Angie Miller hits groove, Kree Harrison shows 'wild side' on 'American Idol'
Angie Miller's third and final song, as picked by the "American Idol" producers, is Emeli Sande's "Maybe." She's at the piano, and it's classic Angie -- driven, smooth, energetic and compelling. Not amazing but well-done.
Randy Jackson thought it was good, Mariah Carey says "I have nothing negative at all to say about the performance." Keith Urban says she's "finding her groove," with Nicki Minaj saying you're no longer so cognizant of being on stage and are more natural.
Kree Harrison's final song is The Band Perry's "Better Dig Two." It's the kind of story song that fits her voice so well; has got a bit of attitude strutting around stage doing it. Authentic and powerful; you feel like you're at her concert. She does still seem a bit tired; lost her sparkle from earlier in the season.
"We see the wild side of Kree," says Carey. "I like the sorrow more than the anger." Urban wasn't as sure, "it didn't feel right for me." Minaj says flat out, "that's not your comfort zone -- whoever picked that for you should be stoned."
Randy Jackson called it "too ordinary for you."
Candice Glover doing "Somewhere" from "West Side Story," which is gonna either be an inspired or lunatic choice. I gotta say, it's a revelation -- had no idea she could do Broadway this well. Not amazing, but surprisingly natural; which makes sense, she has a soaring voice and utter stage presence. Judges all stand, first ovation of the night.
"Oh my goodness, what was that?! What happened, how do you do that?!" yells Keith Urban. "If you want to vote for Candice, dial the number on your screen. If you don't want to vote for Candice call your doctor, you probably don't have a pulse."
"Four words -- see you next week!" is all Minaj says. "One of the greatest vocals on the show," says Jackson. "You can sing any type of song any day of the week" says Carey.
Yeah, that's what's called a showstopper. Some great comments by the judges, as well!
