American Idol

Candice Glover won "American Idol" Season 12 over Kree Harrison as Psy, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Adam Lambert and Aretha Franklin performed.

Candice Glover 'like a planet exploding to life,' Kree Harrison 'uplifting' on 'American Idol'

Kree Harrison sings her third and final song on "American Idol," her favorite of the season -- "Up to the Mountain." It's an inspired pick; slow and emotional, with her rich tone rolling out. She has a calmness to her tonight; some of her best performances of the year. Gets all the judges to stand this time, after everyone but Nicki Minaj stood for her second song.

"That was beautiful, Kree!" says Keith Urban. Minaj says her "energy was so uplifting" and calls it vocally "rich." Randy Jackson says flat-out "that was a winning performance." Mariah Carey loved her, like she loves everything.

Candice Glover finishes with her favorite, "I Who Have Nothing." Starts it a cappella and is  leaving me with chills -- she has a much higher ceiling than Kree, and just bust through it. There's a raw anger in her voice and power that makes this even more compelling than it was the first time around. This is one of the best songs of the season, judges are on their feet immediately when she's done and the audience is roaring.

"Oh my gosh, that's just crazy!" says Urban. "It's like a planet exploding to life, it was incredible." Minaj says "I loved that performance," and says she comes across as a "superstar."

Jackson says "that girl can plumb, flat out sing! This is how you do it, you just shot this whole night to another level!" Carey says "you have an undeniable talent, it surpasses what even I could imagine I'd see here."
