Aubrey Cleland and Charlie Askew kick off "American Idol," one of them is about to join the summer tour as an 11th member. I hope it's Askew, he was stunning last week with his original song, "Sky Blue Diamond."
And it's... Cleland. Oh well, she was good too, just not as good.
Kree Harrison up first as the actual finalists sing the songs of the Beatles, doing "With...Read more »
The "American Idol" Top Nine finalists will perform songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney on Wednesday, March 20.
An 11th finalist will join the “American Idol Live!” tour this summer. The two semifinalists are Charlie Askew, who performed an original song, “Sky Blue Diamond,” and Aubrey Cleland, who performed Irene Cara’s (“Fame”) “Out Here On My Own” on the results show on March...Read more »
Off with the bubble gum pink lip gloss, sci-fi lashes and cotton candy wig – it’s Nicki Minaj, 30, stripped down to a mere bit of foundation, nude lipstick and tiny touch of eyeliner in "Elle” magazine where Minaj appears on the cover of the April issue wearing a black leather jacket and a major makeunder.
You may have noticed that the "American Idol" judge has been appearing...Read more »
Lazaro Arbos and Angela Miller are next up on "American Idol" to learn their fates -- and, as expected, Miller joins Candice Glover and Kree Harrison in the top three. It's the same top three as when I ranked the performances last night.
It is then revealed that Arbos finished fourth overall and is safe. In fifth place is Amber Holcomb, who definitely deserves to stay. In sixth place,...Read more »
Devin Velez, Janelle Arthur and Candice Glover are up first as "American Idol" is looking to cut someone tonight. Glover is into the top three, which means she's deservedly safe for tonight.
The show's officially crossed the line -- the finalists next sing a song from an upcoming animated film. It's not even a very good song; clips from the film play behind them as they...Read more »
Apparently it was leather weather for some of the girls on "American Idol" on Wednesday night and they looked swell. Stunning and strutting it best was the gorgeous Amber Holcomb who was having a fashion “Moment like This,” in a cool, black leather moto vest over a billowing animal print maxi dress, belted and worn with graphic cylindrical earrings. Angie Miller rocked a short, form-fitting...Read more »
"American Idol" kicked off its finals with the women dominating, as Candice Glover, Angela Miller, Kree Harrison and Amber Holcomb topped the field -- with Burnell Taylor the only guy making any sort of impression.
Nobody was amazing, although Glover's version of "I (Who Have Nothing)" drew raves from the judges and the audience, as did Holcomb's "A Moment Like...Read more »
Burnell Taylor next on "American Idol," doing Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings." He's got me from the start; has a special tone and light in his voice, just makes you smile along with him right away. Plus there's an urgency that builds; hard to look away when he's on stage. No pyrotechnics here; just hits the notes and sings from his heart.

Lazaro Arbos up next on "American Idol," doing Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway." Seems a bit nervous; and his vocals are getting swallowed. I'm a big fan of his, but it's not a memorable performance. Maybe it's nerves, maybe his voice just isn't big enough; but the richness hasn't been there for a while.
Keith Urban asks him why he chose the song, and tells him it "wasn't...Read more »
Paul Jolley up next on "American Idol," seems like a nice guy but he doesn't deserve to be here in my view; mentor Jimmy Iovine tells him he "perpetually oversings."
Is singing Scotty McCreery's version of "Amazed." Just sitting on the steps; a bit theatrical right away but it's a good song choice that fits his voice. Cheesy as heck, of course, because that's...Read more »
