'American Idol' starts tonight with an incredibly long -- 10 minutes! -- and boring roundtable, where Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James sit around with Ryan and chat. Towards the end they bring Randy Jackson in for some comments.

It, seriously, is the longest 10 minutes in the history of the show. Ryan is not a journalist, and is barely a competent interviewer. So the contestants wind up speaking in cliches and soundbites.

Nothing you haven't heard before, nothing that will stick in your mind.

After that there's a car commercial for Nissan or whatever, which just has them spray-painting stencils on walls.
