Adam Lambert is the guest mentor and Elvis the appropriate theme for the nine "American Idol" finalists, all back again since Michael Lynche was saved by the judges last week. Adam says they all need to "wake up" a little, give us more energy. Right on.

Audience cracks up as Ryan says to Adam, "my tongue isn't nearly as talented as yours." They sit there in silence as the laughs go on, Ryan tries to say he was talking about singing but whatever.

Crystal Bowersox up first, Adam says her voice is really powerful, wants her to do something different, electric guitar. Singing "Saved," good energy, gets the spirit of the song, and nice pace. Just a bit too controlled for me, more wailing than anything else; it's fine.

Randy likes it, Ellen too. Kara says "another solid performance," which is exactly right; Simon loves that it wasn't an obvious choice, and not karaoke.
