Let's blog it out as Ari Gold, Johnny Drama and the crew from HBO's "Entourage" return for the eighth and final season. Victory!
Coming up in the business of journalism, I always thought farewell columns written by departing writers were a somewhat cheap way to fill 800 words or so of newsprint.
But that was a while ago. And that was before I began writing this "Entourage" blog some six years ago. Of course, it's the show that's leaving, not me.
In the time since I turned to my boss and...Read more »
Wrapping up a series after eight seasons can't be easy for the writers, producers and directors. There's a sense of bringing things to end in a proper way without being too ridiculous or pulling a "Seinfeld" and going off the wall in a finale.
I thought Doug Ellin, Rob Weiss, Ally Musika and the rest of the crew at "Entourage" did a fine job in closing up Episode...Read more »
Some things go according to plan in series finales. Some go in other directions. And some themes come full circle.
But Vincent Chase pulling off the best printable line in the finale of a series that was about him but not really, now that's a bit of surprise.
Vince and BIlly Walsh were in a jewelry store shopping for an engagement ring for his new lady, Sophia Lear, aka the Vanity Fair...Read more »
So much for subtlety on this final installment of Writer Props for the "Entourage" series finale. We're throwing out that part of the rules just like Mrs. Ari threw away her cocktail dresses and other wardrobe choices in favor of that bikini.
Yes, it was wildly gratutious, massively unnecessary, and greatly appreciated.
On a show known for its eye candy and sex appeal,...Read more »
Few people can explode in a work setting better than Ari Gold. He's been an inspiration for bulletpoints on my "Last day list." Hello, paintball gun and "Lloooooooooyyyyyydd!" screams.
And the scene of him quitting his agency was as good any other work-place eruption from him, and it's our final Ari Gold Mine ever. ...Read more »
Johnny Drama came out of the gates swinging big. While Vince was interviewing his past girlfriends on camera, Drama recognizes one of the women as the younger sister of a girl he used to date.
The sister asked to see how Drama was doing, and Turtle suggested that it was because she wanted to trace back the source of her herpes. A typical joke between friends, but Drama retorted perfectly for...Read more »
Classic Drama. Making outlandish statements delivered with complete belief in their veracity yet rarely being accurate.
Which brings us to the best printable line from episode 6, courtesy of Johnny Drama.
"It's like when they killed off Brandon Walsh in '90210,' destroying any chance of a movie."

During one of Entourage's trademark walking scenes, Drama was ranting about the possible collapse of "Johnny Bananas" because Andrew "Dice" Clay walked off the show and his replacement, played by Jamie Kennedy, isn't very good with Dice impersonations.
Drama asked Eric and Scott, Dice's former management team, to call him and convince him to come back to the show....Read more »
Vince faced a drug test a week after smoking a joint, so he turned to Billy Walsh for help. Walsh suggested (and provided) a fake unit with clean urine.
Vince questioned whether or not it could work and if it would be believable. Walsh responded with the best printable line: "Fooled a girlfriend of mine with it for a week."
