This is very good news indeed: Micheal Imperioli has been cast the lead in a n ew ABC pilot called "187 Detroit," about a  homicide squad in Detroit, that the press - or specifically the Hollywood Reporter which had the story this morning - describes as sort of a "Southland"-meets-"The Wire."  Supposed to have a kind of quasi-reality look, and a humorous angle of some sort too, so we shall have to wait and see...

Imperioli: He's coming off what was ultimately a disappointing run in the ABC adaptation of "Life on Mars" (he was good, not so the series) and "The Lovely Bones," which certainly  never hit the high notes the distributor reasonably expected with Peter Jackson behind the lens.

But whatever: Tomorrow's another day and "187D' is another show. Like you perhaps, I'm one of this guy's biggest fans - he just has that magic that is very hard to define. Interesting to finally see him in a lead as opposed to support role...

Check out this  interview with an Irish movie website. He talks about a lot of stuff. Here's hoping for a pick-up this spring...
