'Mad Men,' '30 Rock' take top awards at Emmys
So, a "Mad" night after all.
Engrossing, brilliantly acted and written, yet low-rated, AMC's " Mad Men" wasn't necessarily a lock to win commercial TV's highest honor Sunday night. But win it did: The show, about advertising business in the 1960s, became the first basic-cable series to win an Emmy for best drama.
Ironic? Slightly, perhaps, if only because the rest of the night celebrated...
