This was the SECOND time she stopped and started. I remember her doing it once while she was sitting at the piano to sing, but I can't remember which song it was (because all of her performances are about the same).

I don't think it's fair that she gets to start over..that should be a rule...it's not fair for the other people...SHE SUCKS ANYWAY!!

Actually, it's not even the second time Brooke has started and stopped. She did it once in Hollywood, once during Every Breath You Take and then did it once again last night. That's 3 times. For me though, last night was unforgivable. If anyone other than Brooke goes home tonight, it will be an extreme injustice. She seems to be doing progressively worse each week. It's really quite horrible to witness as she does have a wonderful voice and I think if you stuck her in a 5x5 box with a microphone and didn't tell her that A. people could hear her B. people were watching her and C. it was live, she would probably be fantastic. But that is not the case. Hopefully she will have a decent career as a recording artist playing small venues, but poor girl has been deteriorating at a quite rapid pace the past few weeks and it's becoming painful, knowing what a beautiful voice she has, to see her continue in the competition. Someone needs to hand the girl a scrip for some Valium, give her a great big hug and tuck her in bed... at home.

I hated the song she sang, it's not one of his best works -- the entire "evita" movie was awful.

but jason's butchering of "Memory" was just as bad.

I am so sick of Brooke. She has got to be the most B O R I N G singer ever on AI. I am sick of her over-emotional and self-righteous act. I cannot stand her one more week. GET RID OF HER! PLEASE GO HOME! NO MORE BROOKE!

yes folks she screwed up but jason castro has out stayed his welcome and to destroy a great song like memories and to destroy songs week after week like he does, he needs to go. brook screwed up and wont win but give her some credit for having the balls for starting over. ive been too concerts with so called professionals and they have had to start over after getting emotional or what not. besides its just a show and its fixed anyway havent you all figured it out. why on earth would an amature competition let in not one but TWO contestants who already have albums(carly and kristy). its entertainment and nothing else. AI is no longer a competition or a reality show. it is planned out carefully and the votes mean nothing. clay aiken got more votes then ruben studdard and still lost.

The world is full of people with no compassion and it shows with some of these comments. Brooke is on American Idol and is doing her best. She is a good singer, and that is why she is still there. Yes, there are others left that are much better and more talented than Brooke, but this world also needs more people like Brooke. Brooke White is a "Nice" girl and people don't like it. Such a sad world we live in....

To those whining about negative Brooke commetns: The point of American Idol is NOT to coddle the contestants and make them feel good about themselves. This is a competition. There are going to be losers, and there are going to be people criticizing those losers. If the contestants can't deal with that, then they're trying to break into the wrong industry.

We all know Brooke screwed up last night, she knows it, but I think there are a couple of worse singers still on idol. Yes she stopped once at the piano, not b/c she forgot the words but b/c she didn't like the key she was playing in. I think that's a completely different story then what happened last night. I honestly wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Brooke is safe tonight.

She did start/stop before but she said she had never forgotten the words before, just to be clear. She did the start/stop on the Police song because of a bum note. I think it's her time to go, however.

Brook MIGHT go.....but Jason's performance wasn't that great either. Memories is a song that should flow yet Jason took a loud breath after each verse. I think it was really noticeable not to mention the song itself was dull. Jason might hang on due to his popularity but I feel he's the male version of Kristy Lee.

As far as Brook goes, the pause isn't going to hurt her as much as the way she looked and sang after she paused....it seemed as though she was forcing out the song and didn't look comfortable.

Brooke is not the best performer. She is not the best vocalist. But she IS the best musician. She is the only one I could see myself actually buying albums of. She has a uniqueness and vulnerability that has yet to be seen on Idol. I don't think she has a chance at winning, but I don't think she needs to win. She has a better chance of a real music career than most of the Idol contestants because she truly feels the music and that is rare these days. I bet she is an incredible songwriter, I can't wait until Idol is over and she starts selling music of her own.

King of ridiculous that they even had an Andrew Lloyd Webber night. One of the comments heard over the past years, was that the singer had a voice more suited for Broadway then popular songs. Suddenly they decide a Broadway night is in order. Ridiculous. I honestly do think that Idol is on the way out. Jason Castro was horrible last night, even worse then Brooke. Frankly, I don't even see why everyone is so crazy about David A. And what was with those girls coming up to hug him? It looked silly, uncomfortable and embarassing.

They all pretty much do the same thing...it is called style and genre I think. Little David- sad and puppy dog / Big David - guitar driven / Brooke Piano, guitar easy listening folk / Jason guitar easy listening / Syesha - changes / Carly - big voice. I hope it is an upset win this year.

This far into Idol, if you can't remember lyrics or at least fake that you remember lyrics, gtfo. Paula was absolutely right when she told her that you can't stop and restart the song. Paula's a pro, she knows this, any real musician can tell you this. Any time you are performing music live and you STOP because you forgot something it totally kills your credibility with your audience. So now Carlie is gone, who had the best voice no doubt, Brooke's voice is subpar at best.And to the people calling her the best musician, ARE YOU SERiOUS!?!?!??!?!?

Did you not see her fail at playing the piano MULTIPLE TIMES!!?!?!?

Lastly Brooke's personality is absolutely nail-on-chalkboard excruciating. She never shuts up, she always has an excuse, and it's just plain annoying. Real shame Carlie had to leave.

Yes, Brook suppose to been gone a long time ago. Simon,makes it clear in Holloywood if you don't know the song or you mess up you are gone. Brook get on nation tv and she say that this is her first time messing up when we all know that this is her second time. I was never to fond of Brook. She is too emotional to become the american idol. She should have left before Carla. Don't be surprise if Jason don't be left standing in the final two of the finale night. AI always leave you with a surprise. It may even be Seyesha standing in the top two. But I think that David C should be the AI because he can change his voice and David A always sound the same He can sing but it should be David C.
