"Beasts of the Southern Wild," the Oscar-nominated film directed by former Hastings-on-Hudson resident Benh Zeitlin, will screen in Hastings this week.
Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library is hosting a screening of the film at the Andrus-on-Hudson senior center on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. The screening will be followed by refreshments and a discussion of the film.
Nominated for four Academy Awards and winner at the Cannes Film Festival for Best First Film and the Sundance Film Festival's Grand Jury Prize, "Beasts of the Southern Wild" tells the story of a six-year-old as she struggles to save her ailing father and sinking home. The film is 93 minutes and rated PG-13 for disturbing images.
