Aretha Franklin will wait another few months before heading to the Hudson Valley for her show at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
In an email sent moments ago to Newsday Westchester, a publicist cited "storm-related conditions" and "many troubling issues still facing the community at large" as reasons for postponing the show, which was originally slated for Nov. 13.
"I will keep you in my prayers going forward and will see you soon," Franklin was credited as saying.
Franklin's Westchester County Center concert has been rescheduled for March 27. Tickets purchased for the Nov. 13 event will be honored for the March 27 date, and refund requests can be made through the company from whom ticket-holders made their purchase.
An 18-time Grammy Award winner and a 1987 inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Franklin is an R&B legend, whose myriad hits include “Respect,” “Chain of Fools,” “Think” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Freeway of Love” and “Baby I Love You.” So, yeah, she’s kind of a big deal.
In recent years, the County Center had been better known for hosting conventions, graduation ceremonies, kids’ shows and sporting events, but modifications to the auditorium earlier this year have allowed the county and promoters to push for more concerts and comedy events. Promoters say the venue can hold between 2,600 and 5,000 people for these kinds of events, depending on the seating arrangement.
The Beach Boys kicked off the Westchester County Center concert series with a May 15 show. In previous decades, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, James Brown and Kenny Rogers headlined shows at the venue
