Beyonce to perform at Obama's inauguration
Beyonce is shaping up to have a very busy 2013 and we’re only two weeks into the new year. The superstar, who owns a home in Scarsdale, has been tapped to perform at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration on Jan. 21.
According to People magazine, Beyonce will sing the National Anthem during the ceremony, which will take place at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol. Other performers include Kelly Clarkson, who will sing “My Country Tis of Thee,” and James Taylor, who will perform “America the Beautiful.”
Beyonce was a part of Obama’s first inaugural festivities in 2009, when she performed Etta James’ “At Last” during the first couple’s first dance at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball. The pop star has tackled a public performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before, when she performed the song at the 2004 Super Bowl.
Speaking of the Super Bowl, Beyonce -- who celebrated daughter Blue Ivy’s first birthday on Monday -- is gearing up for her 2013 Super Bowl halftime performance on Feb. 3, as well as the world premiere of her HBO documentary Feb. 16.
The busy diva is also making headlines after her racy photo on the cover of February’s issue of GQ magazine was leaked online this week, which shows her named of the one of the “100 Sexiest Women of the 21st Century.”
