Blues Traveler, Buddy Guy to play Capitol Theatre in Port Chester?
When it comes to leaked reports of the top-secret acts to play the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester this fall, the hits just keep on coming.
The historic music venue, which is under renovation and scheduled to reopen next month, has been trying to keep a lid on the performers slated to grace its stage. But in recent weeks, ticket outlets, artist websites and reader tips have been making it much tougher to maintain the element of surprise.
The Moody Blues were perhaps the first act to be associated with the reopening. Then, it was discovered that Hugh Laurie may be in the “House” (pun absolutely intended), expected to be followed by J. Geils Band and Justin Townes Earle.
The latest names to be linked to The Cap? Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang (Sept. 9), Blues Traveler (Oct. 13; pictured above) and Umphrey’s McGee (Oct. 17).
As of this morning, the official websites of Lang, Blues Traveler and Umphrey’s McGee included the Port Chester venue on their fall tour schedules, and Pollstar.com had Guy bringing his guitar there, too.
A rep for The Cap would neither confirm nor deny these reports, but we find it hard to believe the official websites of these performers would bother to post performance dates that are merely tentative.
Until a formal schedule is released, we’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest acts associated with The Capitol Theatre. And if you find any proof of other bands, artists or comedians planning on doing the same, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
