Culinary Institute alums, B-52s to appear on 'Top Chef Masters'

Kerry Heffernan and Sue Torres, both Culinary Institute

“Top Chef Masters” returns to Bravo Wednesday night, and two alumni of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park will be in the mix for the Season 4 title.

This season's 12 competing chefs include CIA alumni and New York City restaurateurs Kerry Heffernan, who owns South Gate, and Sue Torres, who owns Sueños.

Unlike the regular "Top Chef" series that features amateur chefs seeking a big break (and some cash of their own), "Top Chef Masters" contestants compete for charity. Heffernan is competing for City Harvest and Torres is playing for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Among the guest judges this season are the B-52s, the party band whose members once called Mahopac home. I’d wager almost anything that the challenge that they judge involves a “Rock Lobster” pun.
