Kim, Kanye and baby North West: Comedians react on Twitter
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are the proud parents of a new baby girl, reportedly named North West, and Hudson Valley comedians have been navigating the trending topic on Twitter throughout the week.
Future "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon, who grew up in Saugerties, was among the first comedians to congratuate Kanye West, with whom he's apparently closer than most people might have figured.
Current "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno, a New Rochelle native, was among the first to (inaccurately) report the baby girl's name.
Congratulations to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the birth of their baby girl. Her name is "Twitter."— Jay Leno (@jayleno) June 19, 2013
Purchase College grad Colin Cosell (yes, he's related to Howard Cosell) also had Kanye on his mind, but was more focused on interpreting his music than guessing baby names.
I haven't listened to Yeezus, but I'm pretty sure it's about Swedish Jesus.— Colin Cosell (@Cosell) June 20, 2013
Joan Rivers, a former Larchmont resident, might have been a little hungry when she guessed the celebrity couple's baby name.
Kim & Kanye still haven’t announced the name of their baby. As a Jew, I think it should be “Knish,” because, well, who doesn’t love a knish?— Joan Rivers (@Joan_Rivers) June 20, 2013
"How Was Your Week?" podcast host Julie Klausner, a Scarsdale High School alumna was a bit overwhelmed by everyone's opinion of the name North West — as well as irked by all the tweets about the NBA Finals.
When Twitter is half basketball and the other half Kim baby, it's time for Julie to take a bath— Julie Klausner (@julieklausner) June 21, 2013
Scott "Deuce" Connolly, a Hyde Park resident who helms the mic mornings on WRRV in Poughkeepsie, could already envision the merchandising opportunities, not unlike when the Kardashians promoted their fashion line in Yonkers.
Very much looking forward to the perfume North by North West.— Deuce (@DeuceRadio) June 21, 2013
"Late Show with David Letterman" executive producer Eric Stangel took a break from writing for the North Salem talk show host to bum out about his baby name guess, whose GPS was a little askew.
Kevin Meaney, who was raised in White Plains, theorized the power couple considered being inspired by another pop culture who's made waves of late.
Kim & Kanye almost named their baby Paula Dean.— Kevin Meaney (@kevinmeaney) June 21, 2013
