Looking for the perfect pumpkin for Halloween? This weekend, Muscoot Farm in Katonah hosts a pumpkin-picking event to benefit a good cause.
On Sunday and Monday, visitors are invited to hitch a ride on a hay wagon out to Muscoot Farm’s pumpkin field to pick their own, or to skip the ride and visit the garden, where harvested pumpkins will be displayed for sale. While there, stroll the grounds, visit the animals and check out the historic main house and barns at this former dairy farm. The farmers market will be open, too.
The event will benefit the Friends of Muscoot Farm, an organization that helps to preserve the farming tradition in Westchester by supporting the care of Muscoot Farm’s animals, the education programs for children, creation of new exhibits and the preservation and restoration of the farm’s historic buildings, some of which date back to 1800s.
The event takes place from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Oct. 7-8. Admission is free, hayrides are $2 per person, and pumpkin prices vary by size.
