Area residents won’t have to travel far to visit one of the country’s top tourist spots. The Hudson Valley ranks second on Lonely Planet’s list of the top 10 U.S. travel destinations for 2012.

The area earned this distinction from the globally-recognized travel guide for its “leafy drives, wineries and plenty of farm-to-table foodie options.” Lazy Meadow in Woodstock, owned by the B-52s' Kate Pierson, was singled out as a recommended place for an overnight stay.

Rocking Horse Ranch in Highland also earned travel accolades when TripAdvisor recently named it the No. 2 family resort in the U.S. and the No. 3 family resort in the world.
