Meet New York's new 'Real Housewives'
The last stage of Bravo's quest to transform "The Real Housewives of New York" into a carbon copy of its over-the-top, dripping in diamonds Beverly Hills counterpart is complete: The new ladies have arrived. It all started six months ago, when the network axed Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop from the show, a move some say was necessary to put the series more in line with ratings juggernaut "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," where the women are unapologetically bordering-on-gaudy rich. Their replacements were announced Wednesday during an episode of "Watch What Happens Live," just enough time before the show's June 4 premiere. Here's a dossier on the new ladies:
1. Carole Radziwill: Widow of the late Prince Anthony Radziwill, the only son of Lee Radziwill, sister to the late Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Former ABC News producer, has authored a book, writes for Glamour.
2. Aviva Drescher: Wife of successful banker Reid Drescher and mother of three. Cousin of Fran Drescher. Vassar grad and philanthropist. An amputee, whose left foot and ankle were amputated in a barn accident when she was 6 years old.
3. Heather Thomason: Founder of shapewear line Yummie Tummie. Former celebrity stylist and founding design director of Sean John. Mother of two.
The trio - whose ages, naturally, weren't revealed - will join returning cast members Sonja Morgan , LuAnn de Lesseps and Ramona Singer.
