THE NEWS He'll star in the movie "Missing Links," a golf comedy based on a novel from ESPN's Rick Reilly, The Hollywood Reporter says. The 1997 novel tells of a group of hackers who, after playing for years at a run-down municipal golf course in a working-class Boston neighborhood, concoct a series of schemes they hope will lead to them teeing off at a nearby elite club. Carell is next up on the big screen in the romantic-comedy "Date Night" with Tina Fey and is onboard for the sequel to "Get Smart."

THE SHOW ABC's "Modern Family"

THE NEWS Elizabeth Banks and Chazz Palminteri will guest star on the new comedy later this season, reports. Banks ("W," "Scrubs") will play a friend whom gay couple Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) partied with before they adopted a baby girl. Palminteri ("Bullets Over Broadway," "The Usual Suspects") will play a friend of the family patriarch (Ed O'Neill). Banks and Palminteri will appear in separate episodes.
