There's an old "Dancing with the Stars" truism that actually has the added advantage of being true: The dancer that improves his or her score after the first week is in good shape to last past midseason, and the dancer who declines (dramatically) is in good shape to get ejected immediately. So: Take a bow William Levy, Roshon Fegan and Donald Driver. You guys are going places. (Martina, it's been nice knowing you.)

Meanwhile, let's put an asterisk next to Katherine Jenkins' name. What can you say about the dancer who's good enough to be a pro? A pair of 26s two weeks in a row? Unheard of -- but I still don't think she'll win. The judges know and "DWTS" knows that most viewers vote for guys, so they have to get spectacular female performers on the show just to keep them in the hunt. It's not fair, but who says "DWTS" is fair. Jenkins is insanely good -- too good, in fact. Plus: Note how even Len (Goodman) last night told Driver that he had undermarked him from last week! Confirmation perhaps that he knows how good Driver is, and doesn't want to give him scores that are too high so that he doesn't run away with this comp at such an early stage?

Not going to put up a bunch of clips, but I will do Fegan's from last night, with a couple of observations: The quick step may be the least appealing, from a viewer perspective, of any dance in ballroom dancing competition portfolio; it's annoying, show-offy, and tiresome. But Fegan pulls this one off. He's not going to win "DWTS," but he is going to go far. I still like Driver and Levy going into the finals, and Jenkins -- who won't get many viewer votes -- will be right there if she maintains this level of excellence.
