And before you say, "takes one to know one," check out this interview he just conducted with Fox News Channel/ FBC's Neil Cavuto; interview was taped a short while ago - Imus is on the tub-thumping circuit for his new "Imus in the Morning" show that'll begin this Monday on the Fox Business Channel from 6 to 9 a.m.

Naturally, Neil got around to the question was in other people's mind - are there parallels between this and your situation at CBS three years ago?

(And of course, there was another famous sexual indiscretion case in the highest levels of network TV at Fox a few years back, involving Bill O'Reilly and a staffer on his show - all settled quietly out of court, and life went on for Bill.)

 The outtakes:

On David Letterman:

“I’ve always thought he was a creep anyway,… He’s an angry mean spirited jerk… He’s a punk. Fundamentally if you are married or you have a commitment you should honor that. I’m not stupid and I know some people don’t but that what I do and what people should do.”

On how CBS will handle the Letterman situation:

“I’ve worked at CBS, they make you watch a film, human resources, you’re not supposed to have sex with the staff whether you’re married or not. And this is just the beginning of this.”

On whether CBS was right in firing him:

“You have an obligation if you work for News Corp or GE to behave yourself. They shouldn’t have [stood by me]… it’s irrelevant as to whether I was kidding or not. It starts with the comment. They get put in a position, in this case at CBS. What are they going to do? I fully understand that. Probably what I would have done.”
