Janet Jackson to 'The X Factor?' Why not?

Wanted, or I should say needed: A new judge on "The X Factor" that will make people actually talk about this show and tune in, and make Simon Cowell's dreams (or delusions) of ratings grandeur come to life. Why not Janet Jackson? That seems like a pretty good candidate, no? 

In fact, yes: The woods are full of reports this morning that Jackson is in talks with "Factor," and it's a bit tricky to determine the genesis of those although Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show "Anderson" may be the source,. He and the show are heavily promoting a Jackson interview for Monday, and he point blank asks her about rumors about whether she'll be joining. (Both Extra and Hollywood Reporter have picked up the reports, with the latter confirming talks are happening.) Here's the "Anderson tease:
