'Justified' to end after next season
FX's "Justified" -- among the most celebrated in the network's history -- will wrap after next season, the sixth, FX chief John Landgraf just announced at the TV press tour in Pasadena.
The decision's unexpected, but Landgraf told writers that he "regretfully" accepted the joint decision of show-runner Graham Yost and star Timothy Olyphant to end it then -- apparently both arguing that it had run its course. Elmore Leonard, who was an executive producer of the show that brought his Raylan Givens to the small screen, died last year.
Update: Zap2it's Rick Porter got to Yost, who had this to say:
FX "initially only make[s] a deal with someone like Tim for six years [but] it feels like the Kentucky story of Raylan Givens [Olyphant] is about six years," Yost says. "And similarly with Boyd [Walton Goggins], and Raylan and Boyd. And to take it beyond that, our fear is really just running out of story. It's tough enough to get to the end of any season, and the idea of going beyond that -- we just got that sense of weariness," Yost adds. "Now, it's tough because we're in production, and we're feeling weary anyway. But that was our best guess."
