Letterman blackmailer gets job with Discovery
Joe Halderman, the former "CBS News" producer who was convicted of attempting to blackmail and extort David Letterman, has landed a job -- with the Discovery Networks' channel, Investigation Discovery. He's working for "On the Case with Paula Zahn." This was reported by TVNewser a short while ago, which also had this statement:
"On behalf of On The Case’s production team, we have been impressed with Joe Halderman’s professional accomplishments as an Emmy award-winning producer for 48 Hours and CBS News,” said Scott Weinberger, the EP of ‘On the Case.’ ” With the network’s prior approval, the team has brought Halderman on as a producer for On The Case. We are confident that Halderman will make significant contributions to the success of our award-winning investigative newsmagazine.”
Halderman was indeed a highly regarded "CBS News" producer before he undertook a bizarre extortion attempt against Letterman in the fall of 2009 -- threatening to reveal his multiple affairs if he didn't pay $2 million. Halderman was later caught in a sting, indicted, and served four months at Riker's last year.
