Rob Lowe to play JFK in adaptation of Bill O'Reilly book
And now this: The National Geographic Channel earlier today announced Rob Lowe will play John F. Kennedy in the adaptation of the Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard book, "Killing Kennedy." Other actors who have played JFK over the years? Have to jump to the end of this post to find out!
The Nat Geo statement:
“We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin [Jackie] and Michelle Trachtenberg [Marina Oswald], three gifted artists whom have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material,” said Howard T. Owens, president of the National Geographic Channels. “With Killing Kennedy, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, National Geographic Channel continues to bring daring, culturally significant television events to our growing global audience.”
The other actors? Ah yes: Bruce Greenwood, Cliff Robertson, James Franciscus, Bill Petersen, Ossie Davis...seriously, Ossie, in "Bubba Ho-Tep.' Who remembers "Bubba Ho-Tep," with Bruce Campbell? James Marsden will take a crack this summer in the Lee Daniels film "The Butler." I'm sure I've forgotten someone... (Brett Stimely of "Watchmen" also seems to have a budding career in the JFK realm, with either three or four turns.)
Lowe seems to be everywhere lately, and has a brief but vivid role in HBO's "Behind the Cadelabra," which premiered Sunday, as Liberace's plastic surgeon.
