Romney: 'Letterman hates me . . .'
In those just-released Mother Jones secret tapes - in which Mitt Romney spoke openly to major fundraisers last May -- someone asks about his intention of appearing on more talk shows. Said the candidate: He thought "The View" appearances went well; declined an offer to go on "SNL" because it didn't seem presidential enough; and then --- curiously -- noted that "Letterman hates me" because he'd been on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" more often. The comment is getting a bit of traction out there on the World Wide Web, but it's worth noting he laughed when he said it. Here's the clip -- go nine minutes in; Romney was last -- I believe -- on "Late Show" last December when he did a top ten "Things Romney would like to say to the American people:" #10: "Isn't it time for a president who looks like a 1970s game show host?"
Coincidentally, President Obama is on "Late Show" right now -- for the edition that will air tonight.
