Summer Glau Joins "Dollhouse"
Boy, here's big news.
Seriously.
Summer Glau is joining Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse."
Not to sound like too much of a nerd, even though I very much am a nerd, but this is a notable casting move because SG is none other than River Tam, the posterior-kicking queen of Whedon's short-lived much-beloved "Firefly," now in repeat eternity on Hulu. (Check it out...) Glau - a professional dancer, I believe - turned up in other stuff like "Serenity" (also as RT) and "Terminator: The SCC," and so on, but it was the River Tam character that forever earned her a place on the mental bookshelf of hardcore syfy fans the universe over.
River was a prodigy kid whose parents sent her off to some school for the gifted; ah, foolish parents. In fact this school made her into a balletic killing machine (don't you hate when that happens?) She was like a Matt Damon/Jason Bourne, only had better moves and looked much better in a skirt.
Fox says she'll be a recurring character on the show, starting Sept. 25; someone named Bennett who works in the Dollhouse and shares a past with Eliza Dushku's (Echo) character.
Check out this amusing clip from her River Tam days; a very hard-core fan has set it to Drowning Pool's head-banging "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor." It all seems very appropriate...
