As fans of "Live With Kelly and Michael" are aware, the show announced its finalists for the worthy contest, "Top Teacher Week." But let's just cut to the chase: A teacher from Uniondale, and also from Great Neck, made the cut, and are among the top twelve to be selected. (And to vote for either, go here: livekellyandmichael.com).  They are...

Lynnette Carr-Hicks, choir master, Uniondale High School, Uniondale, and per the show, "the founder and director of the Uniondale High School choir group “Rhythm of the Night.” She was described by one of her students as a “phenomenal and inspirational” woman and is known to bring out confidence in each of her students.

And...John Motchkavitz, business technology department head, Wm. A. Shine Great Neck South High, Great Neck,  who is "considered the unofficial Mayor of Great Neck because he was born and raised there, and keeps active within the community – he’s a member of the volunteer fire department and was one of the first responders following the 9/11 attacks on lower Manhattan. At school, 'Motch' (as his students call him) leads the robotics team, is involved in the business club and works on set designs for school plays."

The "Top Teacher" will be announced the week of May 19.
