Playwright-filmmaker Tyler Perry will host and narrate a modern-day retelling of the last days of Jesus Christ in a live, two-hour TV musical. Fox announced Tuesday that “The Passion” would air on Palm Sunday, March 20. A director and cast have yet to be named for the Dick Clark Productions special, which will be broadcast from New Orleans locations including Champion Square and the stage at Woldenburg Park, and utilize what Fox called “a variety of popular music.” New Orleans native Perry, 46, has directed over a dozen films, including the “Madea” comedy franchise, and produced numerous TV shows and movies.
