WALDWICK - The ex-boyfriend charged with the murder of a young Bergen County mother pleaded not guilty to all charges in court today.
Mark Spatucci is facing charges of murder, hindering apprehension, burglary and endangering the welfare of a child in connection to the death of 23-year-old Mary Greff.
Officers responded to a home in Waldwick on Wednesday where they found Greff at the home she shares with her parents. The victim's father found Greff dead in the home, along with her 10-month-old child, who was found uninjured and alone in a bassinet. Spatucci is the father of the infant.
Emotional family members from both sides packed the courtroom as an attorney for Spatucci entered the plea.
Police believe Spatucci climbed in through a second-floor window and entered the bedroom as the baby and the victim's parents slept. Prosecutors say an argument between the two turned violent and ended with Spatucci killing Greff. They say her body showed signs of significant trauma, including choking and asphyxiation.
The case now heads to a grand jury. Spatucci remains held on $2 million bail.
