FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police said today they're taking some extra steps to make sure people are driving safely this Labor Day weekend.

Police have ramped up patrols in search of drunken drivers, as well as people not properly using cellphones or seat belts.

Officials say they are trying to keep people safe, especially around the beach area where there is a high expectation of traffic.
