THE BRONX - The FDNY is giving some safety tips in the wake of multiple home fires this month.

The most recent fatal fire on Dec. 20 took place at 2700 Grand Concourse. Investigators say there were no working smoke alarms.

Lt. Anthony Mancuso says you should have at least one smoke detector in your home, and check that it works every month. When it comes to holiday decorations, Mancuso says to look for products with approval labels from UL, a company that performs safety testing.

He says artificial trees should be fire retardant, while real trees should be well watered.
