Horticulture Clubs
HORTICULTURAL ALLIANCE OF THE HAMPTONS, P.O. Box 202, Bridgehampton, 631-537- 2223, www.hahgarden.com. Meets: This member organization fosters the art and science of horticulture; monthly lectures at the Bridgehampton Community House, Montauk Highway; group discussions, garden tours and trips, horticultural library. Membership is open to home gardeners and landscape professionals. Dues: $45 individual, $75 family membership.
LONG ISLAND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY, 516- 741-3386, www.lihort.org. Meets: 7 p.m. fourth Wed. during the growing season April-September (except July and August); 1 p.m. third or fourth Sun. October-March at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay. Educational program followed by regular meeting. Educational society devoted to helping gardeners learn about plants, garden design, technique and tools. All gardeners welcome. Tours private gardens locally and long-distance. Dues: $20 per family per year.
African Violets

LONG ISLAND AFRICAN VIOLET SOCIETY, 631- 422-7295. Meets: 7:30 p.m. fourth Mon. at Freeport Memorial Library, 144 W. Merrick Rd., September-June. Dues: $15 annually.

Bonsai
BONSAI SOCIETY OF GREATER NEW YORK, 631- 420-2302, www.bsgny.org. Meets: 8 p.m. second Fri. at the greenhouse, Farmingdale State University of New York (LI chapter). No club meetings July-August; combined picnic and auction in July. Dues: $30, $35 family.
EASTERN SUFFOLK BONSAI SOCIETY, 631-363- 6490. Meets: 7 p.m. second Tue., year-round at Bellport Community Center, 4 Bell St. Fee: $25, $30 family, visitors welcome.

Cactus

Chrysanthemums

Dahlia

Garrick Williams Community Center, Ritter Avenue, Massapequa; and Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Oakdale, call or visit Web site for schedule. Annual show Labor Day weekend Sept. 2-3, dahlia exhibition Sept. 30-Oct. 1 display garden June-September, all at Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Dues: $10.

February-December, beginners' meeting at 7 p.m., followed by regular meeting at Church of the Advent, Advent Street, Westbury; 2 annual shows at Planting Fields Arboretum. Daylilies

Orchids

Organic

Rhododendrons

Rock Garden
NORTH AMERICAN ROCK GARDEN SOCIETY, 516-293-5275, www.geocities.com/linargs Meets: The Long Island chapter normally meets at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay; call for schedule. In addition to regular meetings with educational sessions and speakers, the chapter generally has local garden tours, plant sales, plant auctions, an annual picnic and occasional bus trips; and provides sources for difficult-to-acquire plant material. Dues: $20 a year, includes a household membership and monthly newsletter via e-mail.
Roses
