How to calculate fan size
Exhaust fans are measured in the amount of air they can exchange in a minute. The air is measured in cubic feet, and a typical fan size might be 70 CFM. Here's how to determine your fan size:
- Calculate cubic feet of the room (multiply length by width by height).
- Divide by 60 (the number of minutes in an hour).
- Multiply the result by 8 (the number of recommended air changes in an hour).
