On track for a touch of tin tile designs

Article tools

Q. I own a new co-op in Queens. I would like to put tin tiles in the kitchen as a wall covering. Originally, I wanted stainless steel, like a restaurant, but everyone has told me it is cost prohibitive. Through the Internet, I discovered that tin might be an option. But I can't find anywhere to purchase the tiles. And who installs them? Help. -- Ellen J. Rogers, Bayside

A. Don't panic. AA-Abbingdon Affiliates Inc. in Brooklyn carries Victorian and Art Deco designs of tin panels for ceilings and walls. You'll find 15 different cornice styles, seven different finishes and panels that can be installed by either nailing or laying in. Call Abbingdon at 718-258-8333 or visit online at www.abbingdon.com. They'll even recommend an installer. Another source is M-Boss Inc., a Cleveland-based online supplier of tin ceilings. The company has been featured in This Old House magazine. Visit www.mbossinc.com. Both the Abbingdon and M-Boss Web sites feature installation instructions.
