Protecting Long Island windows, Florida style
I have a summer house on the water with windows that get boarded up for winter or if a hurricane is expected. Would those rolling shutters residents use in Florida protect from hurricane and wind damage? Are they used at all on Long Island?
Sarah Jarvis, Greenport
They would offer excellent protection, provided they are rated for winds more than 120 mph. They are sold and installed on Long Island. Try Forward Door, Inwood, 516-371-1130, and Rollup Awnings, in Holbrook and Southampton, 800-445-7655, or www.rollupawnings.com.
