The great white way
Three words that always sound good together: Crisp. White. Shirt. Now throw in a fourth - Gap - and you've pretty much sealed the deal. They're the go-to guys for basics, and there's nothing more basic (or versatile) than a crisp white shirt. Of course, basic can sometimes read blah - so for the second year in a row, Gap has teamed with hot, emerging designers to create Gap Design Editions, a limited-edition collection of anything-but-blah whites. This year's designs come from fave labels 3.1 Phillip Lim, Band of Outsiders, Michael Bastian, Philip Crangi and threeASFOUR. The collection, which includes shirts for women and men, plus black and white jewelry, is priced $35 to $88, and launches tomorrow, April 15. What a great way to spend your (fingers crossed) tax refund! Available at select Gap stores and gap.com. - Joseph V. Amodio
BEAUTY SPOT
Hip beauty
We love it when places that seem oh-so- New York make it eastward. The latest: Ricky's NYC, the quirky, hip beauty emporium with locations in Manhattan and, as of last month, a new outpost in Huntington. (It's not their first LI shop - they're also in East Hampton.) Now they're centrally located, with something for everyone - goths, girlie-girls, moms, teens, drag queens, stylists, you name it. The place is stocked with brands you trust, from Frederic Fekkai, Murad and Phyto to Tom's of Maine, Votivo candles and Ricky's own selection of travel bags, bath gear, hair bobs, grooming tech - and don't forget the neon hair dye and hysterical Halloween garb. Ricky's NYC, 261 Main St., Huntington, 631-385-1279; or visit rickysnyc.com.

Sephora secrets
Sephora, the beauty chain, has spent 10 years selling beauty products; now it's selling a book and a beauty-full one at that. "Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin and Hair From the Beauty Authority" offers funny anecdotes from beauty experts, dishes on the beauty secrets of celebrities and offers tips upon tips on how to create a more glamorous you. The book, written by Melissa Schweiger a former Sephora beauty editor, celebrates the chain's 10-year anniversary. It will be available starting tomorrow for $27.95 at Sephora.com, Amazon.com, Sephora stores and major bookstores. - Tania Padgett
