WHITE PLAINS - A federal judge has delayed the September sentencing of former Yonkers city Councilwoman Sandy Annabi and her cousin, Zehy Jereis, the former Yonkers Republican party chair.

The two-week delay comes at the request of the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors say they need more time to respond to Annabi and Jereis's lawyers' motions to overturn the verdicts against them.

The two were convicted of bribery, extortion and conspiracy charges in March.

The new sentencing date is now October 4.Newsday: Annabi still shocked over corruption conviction Annabi set to be sentenced in September
