Bernard's Market & Cafe, which offered savory take-out fare and on-site dining in Glen Head, will close on Jan. 20 after a seven-year run.

Owner Rob Byrne cited the economic downturn as the reason to shut Bernard's.

DoraNonnie, the Italian-Asian-fusion restaurant on the premises, closed four months ago. "Top Chef" contestant Danny Gagnon was the original chef there. Bernard's also had hosted a casual cafe that turned into a tablecloth eatery in the evening.

Bernard's Market & Cafe, 716 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head; 516-759-9100.
