Cronut alternative at Crumbs Bake Shop, the Crumbnut
The cronut craze enters a new, mainstream era with the "Crumbnut," in two styles from Crumbs Bake Shop.
Cronuts, the hybrid creation from a sweet union of the doughnut and the croissant, has become the pastry of the moment, with customers waiting in lines and production limited. Purists may stick with one or the other rather than compromise.
The Crumbs' contributions include a Crumbnut filled with Bavarian cream, and one that's plain with powdered sugar. They're both very good, though they may not supersede your favorite Crumbs cupcake.
Crumbnuts are $2.95.
