So, I'm driving along Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station this morning when suddenly, I spot a Gabila’s knish truck. Aha, I think; the square (fried) knishes are back on Long Island — this following a September fire at the company’s Copiague plant, which created a national shortage.

At Thyme in Roslyn, a creative roster of burgers is featured every Wednesday night, along with $5 draft beers and live music in the restaurant’s bar.

There’s a bit of irony in the name of the burger spot that just made its debut in the former Plainview home of Cheeburger Cheeburger (which still has locations in Farmingdale and Great Neck). DirtyBurger is all about clean eating — hormone and antibiotic-free beef and from-scratch preparations. Even the ketchup is made on premises.
