The Refuge Food & Spirits, the new restaurant occupying what used to be Four Food Studio, is open for lunch. The menu is an abbreviated and slightly less expensive version of the dinner menu, with more salads and sandwiches.

With cold weather headed our way, we’re all looking for eats both hot and satisfying. To many, that means mac and cheese. Vegans have one less place to call their own, now that Maggie’s Raw Love Cafe is no more. The Rockville Centre eatery was situated on Merrick Road, inside the Blue Firmament Holistic Center, which, according to its website, has closed but aims to reopen at a new location, not yet specified.

Mara’s Too in Wantagh just launched a new roster of small plates, most of them New Orleans and Southern-style dishes. Among choices: savory crawfish cheesecake ($14), chargrilled clams ($10), deviled eggs ($7), shrimp nachos ($6) and cornbread etouffe ($12). The restaurant is also adding a charcuterie and cheese menu, available after 8 p.m. as of Friday.
