Fire bombs thrown at Greek embassy in Serbia
BELGRADE, Serbia - BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Serbian police say assailants have hurled two Molotov cocktails at the Greek embassy in Belgrade but caused no injuries or major damage.
They say the homemade fire bombs broke one window on the downtown building and left a black trace on the facade. Witnesses say five youngsters fled the scene after throwing the devices late Monday.
No motive for the attack was given. Serbs and Greeks are considered close Christian Orthodox allies and there are no open issues between the two Balkan countries.
The Greek embassy in Belgrade was frequently attacked in the past by Serbian fans after basketball matches between the sporting rivals. Greece beat Serbia in a friendly match in Athens on Monday.
