Franklin Desamours of New Hempstead attacked man with scissors, cops say

A New Hempstead man was in jail Friday after attacking another man with a pair of scissors Thursday night in a Hillcrest barbershop, police said.

The victim, a 47-year-old Spring Valley man, told responding officers that Franklin Desamours, 54, stabbed him once in the chest about 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fresh Cuts Barber Shop on North Main Street, Ramapo police said.

It was not immediately clear why Desamours allegedly stabbed the victim, who was not identified, or whether the two men knew each other.

Desamours was charged with second-degree assault, a felony; and fourth-degree weapons possession and second-degree menacing, misdemeanors.

He was arraigned Friday morning in Ramapo Town Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail to await his next court date Wednesday. Bail and attorney information for him wasn't immediately available Friday.
